In parallel with Chile’s growing importance as a destination for intra-regional migration, a field of study has emerged that increasingly complexifies its analyses by considering new migration scenarios and the multiple dimensions involved. Within this context, and stemming from an initial focus on access to the school system, policies toward migrant students, and educational inclusion, research on migrant childhoods, adolescence, and youth has begun to revisit questions, deepen investigations, diversify approaches, and incorporate previously underexplored issues. This book seeks to bear witness to the current state of research on migrant children, adolescents, and youth in contemporary Chile. It brings into dialogue the reviews, expansions, and progress within more traditional lines of inquiry—centered on schooling and the education system—with the emergence of questions that go beyond the school setting. These new inquiries arise from the tensions and challenges posed by the complexities of migration processes for their youngest protagonists.
