Winter School: Sign up now open!

Núcleo Milenio MIGRA is proud to announce that sign up is now open for ur Winter School of Research on Migration, which will take place from Monday, august 24th until Wednesday, august 26th. This school seeks to shape the next generation of latinamerican researchers in migration studies, delivering advanced methdological tools for the design and execution of empirical research in latinamerican contexts.

This call is for PhD students, postdoc researchers and academics who share an interest in migration research. We expect them to have an empirical research proyect and wish to perfect it during the Winter School.

Program

Monday, August 24th – Quantitative and Qualitative Methods

• Qualitative Fundamentals in migration studies.
• Study design: access, ethics and reflexivity.
• Quantitative Methods Fundamentals.
• Lab: Data sources and identification strategies

Tuesday, August 25th – Mixed Methods and Feedback

• Fundamentals of Mixed Methods Designs.
• Design and implementation of mixed studies.
• Brief presentations: Participants’ research proyects.
• Methods Clinic: Small group workshops

Wednesday, August 26th

• Keynote: Institutions, Frontiers and Inequality
• Author panels (12 articles in revision for a special issue)
• International guests (hybrid option)
• Closing Plenary

Application

To apply to the Winter School, we ask you send the following documents to alejandra.abufhele@uai.cl, before June 25th

• Motivation letter, detailing in which way your research might be benefitted from the Winter School and how to increase the Winter School’s impact within your sphere of influence (1 page max)
• Updated Curriculum Vitae, which specifies publications and/or networks in which you participate (3 pages max)
• Brief description of the empirical research project you will be working on during the Winter School (500 words max)

We are able to provide financial aid to people who travel from other countries or regions. If you require this assistance, include this in the motivation letter.
