Grant Adjudication for our Photovoice Workshop

October 6, 2026

Milenium Nucleus MIGRA adjudicated two grants to develop our project “Interventor School and Photovoice Workshop”. The first – Fondo Semilla JAYMA – is a conjoint iniciative between Tarapacá University (UTA) and Catholic University of Chile (PUC), to ptomote alliances between Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, through interdisciplinary projects that establish a bidirectional relationship with the community. The second – ANID’s Medium Extension Projects – seeks to transfer and disclose the knowledge produced by the Nucleus to diverse sectors of society, different than the academic environment.

Our project consists of two stages. First, the School of Interventors shapes students from Social Work, Design and similar disciplines from UTA and PUC in Photovoice methodology, as a tool for action-investigation, as well as research on migration. The perspective students will learn emphasizes the design of interventions from a local and participatory stand point. Then, the second stage of the project consists of the co-design and application of Photovoice workshops. It is an intervention with migrant children and adolescents from San Joaquín, Alto Hospicio and Cerro Chuño, that has the objetive of promoting agency, expression and critical reflection about their territories. As a conclusion to the project, three photographic exhibitions will be held, as well as the publication of a photo-book.

We are excited to begin our work on the second version of this project.
