“Less children, better schools” Opinion Column by Alejandra Abufhele

Our principal investigator, Alejandra Abufhele, published an opinion column las week. In it, she highlights that the educational policy must not only ask itself how to recover the amount of children that sign up for schools, but also how the school system might adapt to the country’s new demographic reality, providing better education for fewer students.

This way, it may anticipate the deep transformations occuring not only in Chile, but worldwide. In it, she calls to avoid reducing the budget destined to this, but rather, maintain it or increase it. Additionally, she calls to consider all the children that are being educated in the system. That is, chilndren born from a migrant mother, migrant children, and those who live in rural areas.
